Helping My Nanna

Finish What I Start

Helping My Nanna

Next month I see my grandma. I look forward to seeing her, though she has become a little obstinate in her old age. I won’t embarrass her by sharing her years, but let us just say she’s a lady with thoroughly practiced wisdom.

I understand her daughter just brought by a litter of baby kittens for entertainment. Of course, her daughter (my aunt) had to tolerate an extended lecture on caring for young kittens. I am positive my grandma would have liked to retain a couple of the kittens, but they are just too much for her to manage at this stage.

I always see something bewildering at her place when I visit. Last time, I discovered several books on penny stocks on her coffee table. My grandmother studying about penny stock trading? That’s nuts. I wonder what I’ll encounter on her coffee table this week.

This week will make for an active sojourn. I have to put in her different Emtek door knobs and air conditioner filters then fix her garden cart. I also have to take her old pans and pots to charity as she recently purchased a new set of pots and pans to replace them. As a reward, she claims to also have purchased the best ice cream maker and the very best of all the electic coffee makers. I am thankful, yet I also must laugh softly as she invariably claims to have or use only the greatest of this or that.

If everything proceeds well, she’ll utilize both to dish me some fabulous java in the morning and ice cream in the evening. That sounds like more than reward enough for my effort. I am happy to help her out for nothing, but a little rich coffee and sweat ice cream doesn’t hurt.
